I always took it as she was free to be her "wretched" self because of the Freedom in Christ, and that the "perfection" she spoke of, was according to the World's standards.

BUT, I must admit, I've not listened closely...only to Sierra belting the songs out while she does the dishes...I'll be getting those Lyrics out ASAP.

Thank you for the heads up...Momma Mistakes just never end, do they?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8752756508634732521.post-8009284162469149842010-05-17T09:29:14.299-07:002010-05-17T09:29:14.299-07:00Agreed ladies. And I didn't even bring up the line in the chorus where she says "perfection is my enemy..." ouch. :) 'Be ye perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.' I guess that verse is self explanatory to the perfection debate. :) God's Word defends its-self. That's what's wrong w/ so many of us, we forget that there's transformation taking place, once we belong to Christ. Just like last weeks sermon, we are being changed from the inside out. Hopefully we're experiencing a dying to self, not a celebration of self. That song really made me grieved the first time I really listened to the lyrics.Mrs.Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09733696095180815920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8752756508634732521.post-26470099328864934302010-05-17T04:59:01.153-07:002010-05-17T04:59:01.153-07:00Wow. I think so many people these days feel comfort in lyrics like this; makes them feel so good about themselves that God loves them. But, yeah, God doesn't love us so we can "be ourselves". He loves us and gives us His Holy Spirit so that we can be like Him. Now *that* is good news. Most people are perfectly content to just continue being themselves, missing the main idea which is that through Him we can (and must) be absolutely transformed. I've seen enough of myself these past 28 years to know that if God is willing to give me the tools I need to become Christ-like, I'll take that over my flawed self any day.

Sorry to ramble!Deannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15483487443458965312noreply@blogger.com
